The Spiritual Master who taught Krishna Consciousness to the World

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness) appeared in this world in 1896 in Calcutta, India.

To carry the order of his Spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada sailed to America in 1965 practically penniless in his most advanced age. Almost after a year of great difficulty he established International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and within a span of 10 years, 108 centers of ISKCON including Farming Communities have been established. Srila Prabhupada also introduced the Vedic System of Primary and Secondary Education to promote India's Great wisdom.

As the most distinguished scholar and teacher of Indian thought and culture and the author of the best selling Vedic Literatures, Srila Prabhupada's most significant contribution, however, is his books. Highly respected by the academic community for their authoritativeness, depth and clarity, they are used as standard Text books in numerous college courses. His books have been translated into all the major languages of the world.

And he always encouraged his followers to DISTRIBUTE BOOKS. After over seeing his movement grow, he left the responsibilities to his followers to continue his mission and took Samadhi in November 1977 in Vrindavan, India.
